28 x 19 inches, mixed media on illustration board. 1992.
Cover for "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson, Bantam Spectra.
CGI: two 11”x14” glossy photographic prints, photographed from monitor, rendered on Quantel Paintbox. Joined at horizon line. All layers mounted on Whitman neutral ph illustration board.
Ground plane and figure: acrylics and modeling paste on bottom portion of photographic print.
Archway painted with acrylics on strippable illustration board remounted over photo layer with acrylic gel medium. Textures built up with acrylic modeling paste.
Seam for top layer of illustration board is visible along base of archway and perimeter blocks due to shrinkage.
** Will repair with matching colors if purchased. Leaving visible now explains the layering though.
Re this image: six tiles comprise the scan: tonal variations on each of the pieces are visible- rotating the piece lit the textures at different angles.
