Christine Griffin

Having been raised in West Virginia, I find that I gravitate toward a quietly weird subject matter, flavored by goth-folk and mid-western myth. I enjoy light horror and modern fantasy, especially those familiar monsters that live under, and sometimes in, our own beds. Currently, I'm exploring all the ways to manipulate graphite and dry media over a thin wash of iridescent watercolor ... soft, laborious gradations atop a gentle sheen. The interplay between humans, nature and power is one of my favorite motifs, and I never get tired of drawing clouds or strange eyes. I also work digitally on book covers and private commissions, and successfully held my first public solo show in Columbus, Ohio. I share my life with one husband, three sons, and a punk-ass cat.
