This is my interpretation of the Aegishjalmur, the Helm of Terror, from Norse mythology. It is also a continuation of my shaman mask series and focuses on the interplay of life and death as well as the forces of light and dark. The right side of the mask is sculpted in different bone and skull forms and represents both death but the colors of this half represent light. I sculpted the left side with tree and bark shapes to represent life but painted it much darker than the other half to represent darkness. The rope elements bind the two halves together into a balanced whole.
