Description

"She had been escaping from them for a long time. Only that this time was different, they were not stopping. They followed her in greater numbers, threw arrows at her and they had brought torches not only to light their way, but to burn her.

Why weren't they stopping this time? They always had that weird coming and going where they left her alone for a while, what happened this time? Why where they so adamant to finish with her for good?

The insults, the screams, the hate in their faces began to break her spirit as the hours passed. Defending herself with all she could but the pain was unbearable, she was exhausted and already feeling that giving up was best. For a few moments, she lost them in a rocky terrain next to a little river. It was a hiding place that she used to spend happy and calmer times just relaxing and enjoying the water.

It was quite dangerous to reach for a human. But from time to time, the adventurous hunters crossed the safety of the forest, going down the rocks to be able to beat the others to get the prey. To be called "heroes". But their prey wasn't weak, and the "heroes" were turned to stone and never left. And every time it happened, she believed in their words even more. She was a monster.

She felt that they were going to get her this time. That was it. She was just about to stop escaping and just wait for them to reach her.

Out of nowhere, she felt that the cold night started turning warm. She opened her eyes and saw a magical creature standing on the rock in front of her. An unicorn? - Her eyes opened wide.

The small creature calmly looked at her . There wasn't even a hint of curiosity in its eyes. The snakes in her head approached its horn, they didn't feel menaced either. They were the ones who were curiously looking at this apparition in front of them.

Aren't you afraid? - She said as she shyly kept looking at the tiny horse in front of her. - Why?

The white creature looked at her as if they've known each other from long before. Not the way the humans looked at her all the time: fearful, hateful. She was feeling... safe? But why? she was a cold blooded assassin, that's what they yelled at her as they attacked. "Monster! Creature of hell!", that was all she knew she was.

You should fear me. I'm a monster, why aren't you running away? - she whispered- You should go, they're going to get you too.

She realized that she wasn't hearing the humans anymore. Even though they were still looking at the dark edge of the river. They've surely seen the light, why aren't they coming?

And then she remembered tales she used to listen to when she was younger. When she hid, listening to the town's children being told stories about magical creatures.

"Unicorns live in the edges of our world. Only those with an open and caring heart will be allowed to follow"

She then realized that there was silence around them, the air was lighter. It was her river... but somehow it wasn't. The unicorn blinked and then started drinking from the river in silence.

The gorgon looked around, she felt her heart slowing down and the snakes in her head began relaxing. She was in the unicorn's home.

She was safe."
