Description
Much of my inspiration for painting originates from literature and history.I hope to communicate awareness, emotions, experiences, memories, the beauty and wonder of the human soul, and a searching for comfort and familiarity in the unknown. These women are discovering new and interesting things in the books found in the artists’ studio and the mutual fascination for the stories or information found within.
The artists studio is where magic happens, the creative place of new concepts and creations. It is also a place where a lot of non-glamorous and regular tasks happen. This down-time in the studio, between the two models’ posing for a painting, I found an interesting subject.
The figures are both wearing masks for their work and with these they interact with the boldness and confidence of anonymity. As Oscar Wilde said, “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth.”
