This is a hand-cranked automata sculpture piece.
A mystical Magpie flies through the woodlands ... all you need to do is turn the handle!
The bird is created from clay, cloth and card, each tiny feather has been painted and then layered on the wing base, the body of the bird then carefully painted with black and white and given a pearlescent green and lilac shimmer. His mate site upon an old gate post, watching and waiting for him to arrive.
The base of the piece is created around a metal canister that has been overworked with clay, wires, and tiny pieces of cloth. This has then been painted and faux grasses and semi precious stone chippings and crystals added.
