Julia Lundman is a mixed media fantasy painter. Her work draws on all of the mysterious worlds she read about and drew as a child, fairies, myth, legends, animals. Lundman revisits these characters and landscapes from the perspective of her experiences as an adult, retelling beloved subjects with personal nuance, love of history, and gothic aesthetics with narrative compositions. Her art reinterprets characters, digging deeper into these dark, mysterious, beautiful, gothic, romantic and sometimes whimsical archetypes that inhabit the deep subconscious of us all.

Lundman believes in honoring her intuition through sketchbook practice. All of her paintings flow from these sketches into paintings. She works in her San Francisco studio daily experimenting with historical methods learned from years of study at traditional ateliers, utilizing non toxic, water based materials. No AI is ever used in her process.

Julia Lundman’s paintings are in private collections in the US and internationally. She was a finalist in the painting category in the 2026 Beautiful Bizarre art prize. Her work has been published in Infected by Art, volumes 8, 9, 10 and 11, and Imagine FX magazine.
