Ruth Sanderson

Ruth Sanderson's children's book career spans over forty years and eighty five published books, in addition to work for magazines, book covers, animation, and licensing. Her personal work is in the realm of Imaginative Realism and her favorite current medium is scratchboard, for which she’s won two Chesley awards in recent years. Her numerous fairytale retellings include The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Cinderella, and The Snow Princess, and her award-winning original fairytale The Enchanted Wood. Ruth’s work has been included in exhibitions around the country, including a solo exhibition of her fairytale art at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Ruth teaches in the MFA in Writing and Illustrating for Children at Hollins University in the summer, and lives the rest of the year in Easthampton, Massachusetts.
