This book jacket was for Baen Books for their tongue-and-cheeky anthology called Chicks In Tank Tops.... edited by Jason Cordova. Fun is fun, but the story that inspired the image, Goddess of War, by A.C. Haskins set in the near future in a war with Russia in Eastern Europe, isn't much to laugh about given that we are already there, minus American boots on the ground. The story and the illustration were commissioned prior to Putin's Invasion. Athena is also the Goddess of wisdom (reflected in her sleeve tattoo), and here's hoping we have enough of that in this David and Goliath matchup. This near future story is packed with the logistics of tech enhanced cavalry combat, Indeed, my tank is based on our Abrams which is the model in recent news about sending tanks to the front lines in Ukraine. For my character, the AD and I wanted a badAss along the lines of Gina Carano, a formidable beauty. This painting may debut at Boskone in a few short weeks.
