One of four covers for Baen Books Technic Civilization series by Poul Anderson featuring Dominic Flandry. Flandry was essentially James Bond in Space, and he was written before Fleming wrote Bond. I love Robert McGinnis's work and especially his work on James Bond imagery in the 70's. My Baen art director was all in for a series that was inspired by that work. This particular cover was also included in the The Art of Dave Seeley. This painting is the original that was photographed for publication, and is a unique hybrid oil / digital illustration including areas of an underlying archival print showing in the final surface of the background.
