Description
I’m becoming increasingly interested in the idea of wholeness as it relates to our journey to know and understand ourselves from a symbolic stance. My previous work Ein Sof was my first attempt to creatively engage this topic. In much of my work, I delve into the intricate relationship between the self and the "other"—the world that surrounds us—and how individuals are composed of conflicting archetypal forces. One of the most profound and abundant examples of this dynamic lies in the interplay between the masculine and feminine aspects within our own psyche. The significance of this topic has not escaped me, as it aligns with the growing cultural interest in identity and the projection of these internal conflicts from the collective unconscious. Indeed, this conflict is one of the most ancient and enduring.
As an artist, I have always endeavored to be not only cognizant but also attuned to the feminine essence that resides within me as a creator. I perceive the feminine as inherently creative and receptive. As a man, I am acutely aware of how my biases influence the interplay of these dynamics within myself. The masculine counterpart, on the other hand, represents the pursuit of control and order, bound by the confines of knowledge. Thus, it strives for unity.
Of course, each individual possesses their own unique perspective and engagement with this dynamic within their own psyche. For me, the objective was to explore the subtle nuances between these two forces and the inherent tension that arises in the eternal quest for wholeness. It becomes apparent that "wholeness" may be perceived from completely distinct vantage points when viewed through the lenses of the masculine and the feminine.
