Description

The Medusa story we know is about a monster who lost her humanity to the wrath of the gods. Here, the waters of Poseidon lap at Medusa’s body and flood her subterranean temple. Lilies symbolizing Athena’s expectations of virtue fill the urn that Medusa carries. Meanwhile, the Grecian urn shows us the creature we know from myth. Medusa carries these burdens which attempt to strip away her humanity, but she is not bowed, standing instead with resilience and even a sense of challenge in her eyes. Created for the art book in development by Century Guild.
