'Corum Escapes', from 'The Knight of the Swords'; one of twelve of Matthews' Michael Moorcock designs commissioned as full-size posters by Big O Posters in 1976. The collection was also published in the calendar 'Wizardry and Wild Romance'. Of the twelve, this artwork was the first to be completed.Corum Jhaelen Irsei battles with the Rhaga-da-Kheta. One of the last of Vadhagh, Matthews depicts this incarnation of the Eternal Champion with the Eye of Rhynn and the Hand of Kwll grafted upon him. Combined, these artefacts of power allow the Prince in the Scarlet Robe to see and reach into the netherworld, summoning the undead to slay his enemies.
