This is a hand-cranked automata sculpture piece.
A pretty little butterfly faerie flies over the flowers ... all you need to do is turn the handle!
The faerie is created from clay, cloth and card, her wings painted with Red Admiral butterfly markings. Her hair of merino wool strands has been carefully layered around her tiny face. The dress she is wearing is created from the tiniest petal shapes of mixed fantasy fabrics and each piece layered to create a flower effect.
The base of the piece is created around a metal canister that has been overworked with clay, wires, and tiny pieces of cloth. This has then been painted and extra mixed media flowers added.
