KELLY POTTS-MARTINEZ is an artist creating wearable sculpture, living and working in the South West of England. She has extensive professional training in fine jewelry design, master-pattern making for the jewelry industry, antique jewelry reproduction and precious metal sculptural restoration, lost wax casting, miniature sculpture and enameling.
After completing her apprenticeship she explored and developed her own style, influenced by her passions for world mythology, ancient history, British folklore, Art Nouveau, Pre-Raphaelite art, and with respect for the ancient smiths whose skills she feels a connection to in her work with the continuity of craftsmanship.
She has worked on such projects as ecclesiastical jewelry and ritual object restoration; reproduction of antique heirloom jewelry, and small sculpture for private collections and international exhibitions. Kelly has also designed & created pieces for European TV, theatre & film.
Her wearable sculpture pieces are enameled, bejeweled and are highly detailed, often talismanic with hidden symbolism; sometimes with fossils, skulls, bones or mineral specimens; are abundant with texture, colour and narrative. She sees her art as an honouring of world mythology, folklore, classical literature, ancient and natural history.
